LeBron James was just asked what he’d say to Trump if he sat down to talk to him. His response is epic

NBA legend LeBron James sat down with CNN’s Don Lemon last night to discuss the opening of his wonderful new school for at-risk youths, but the conversation soon turned to the President and his interminable war against the National Football League and its players who choose to protest police brutality and racism by kneeling during the national anthem.

King James spoke on the unifying power of sports and lamented that the President was twisting it and exploiting it to push people apart instead of bringing them together:

“You know, we are in a position right now in America, more importantly where this whole, this race thing has taken over. One, because I believe our president is kind of trying to divide us…Is. No, I don’t want to say kind of. And what I’ve noticed over the past few months is he’s kind of used sports to kind of divide us, and that’s something that I can’t relate to” said James.

Lemon then asked him what he would want to say to Trump should he ever have the opportunity to sit across from him — and James gave the best answer.

James has been a vocal critic of the president in the past, famously calling him a “bum” after the president criticized Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry for refusing to visit the White House after their championship win last year.

It might come as a surprise to some but it’s clear that LeBron James has a better grasp on how to deal with the resurgent racist right-wing than many political establishment figures.

While the New York Times op-ed section might think admonishing liberals and argue that we just need to learn how to “talk to racists,” the truth of the matter is that Donald Trump and the rest of his white supremacist supporters don’t deserve to have a platform and their ideas don’t deserve to be given the time of day.

History has shown us time and time again that extending tolerance to the intolerant only ends with the destruction of the tolerant and with tolerance itself entirely.

The president has already made it clear that no matter who meets with him, nothing is going to change his ways — and if you give him the opportunity, he will take your extended handed and weaponize it against you. Best not to give him that chance.
