Trump’s sweetheart deal for Cabinet member just stripped electricity from 700,000 Americans

Looking at corruption in the Trump administration is like turning over a rock and finding all the creepy crawlies underneath.

Just as Puerto Rico’s tourism industry was recovering from Trump’s disgraceful post-hurricane response, the administration’s corruption left half the island in the dark.

Immediately after Hurricane Maria, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke infamously awarded a $300 million contract to his hometown buddies at a two-person Montana company called Whitefish Energy to restore the devastated island’s power.  Thanks to their faulty repair of a power line, 700,000 American citizens in Puerto Rico found themselves without power today,  according to San Juan mayor, Carmen Yulín Cruz.

According to today’s The Hill, “the company reportedly spent $150,000 lobbying Congress after the deal’s publication, with the intent of protecting the company’s ‘reputation’ from critics.”

Zinke, meanwhile, has had his fair share of corruption scandals, like fellow Trump Cabinet members, EPA chief Scott Pruitt, HUD Secretary Ben Carson, disgraced former Health Secretary Tom Price, and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin — to say nothing of the president, himself.

After he purported that the administration’s decision to shrink Bear’s Ears National Monument in Utah was to “protect” federal lands, Zinke’s true motives came to light in an email leak, revealing oil, gas, and coal interests played a central role in the anti-environmental maneuver.

Trump and his Cabinet continue to let our country down and undermine our standing in the world.

If Mueller and Stormy Daniels don’t take this presidency down first, the voters must do so in November.
