Another “Trump Tower” hotel just went up in flames (WATCH)

- 09.14

Only weeks after a fire erupted at the Trump Tower in New York, leaving six firefighters injured and a 67-year-old art dealer dead, another fire has broken out at a property billed to be the Trump International Hotel in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku.

The fire reportedly broke out in the middle of the 33-story building, burned through 20 floors and took over three hours to get under control. Four people have been reported injured thus far.

The Trump Organization took over the luxury building in Baku in 2012 and planned for a hotel to occupy the first 13 floors with apartments above. Despite securing a licensing agreement before Trump announced his presidential candidacy in 2015, the company ultimately pulled out of the project in December of 2016 once Trump was elected. The building is still known locally as “Trump Tower” given the company’s long-standing affiliation with the property.

According to New Yorker Magazine, the acquisition was labeled “Donald Trump’s Worst Deal.”

This blaze comes on the heels of a fire that broke out on the 50th floor of Trump’s Fifth Avenue flagship property. There were no sprinklers installed in the apartment.

“People feel safer with sprinklers,” Trump told The New York Times. “But the problem with the bill is that it doesn’t address the buildings that need sprinklers the most. If you look at the fire deaths in New York, almost all of them are in one- or two-family houses.”

Like everything else that Trump touches, this is only the latest to go up in flames.
