An official just revealed Trump puts a Fox News host on speakerphone at Oval Office meetings

The world outside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue may fret over the level of Jared Kushner’s   security clearance, but Fox Business News host Lou Dobbs receives no such scrutiny.

President Trump is such a fan of Dobbs’ opinions that he not only regularly watches his show, but apparently patches the Fox personality into White House meetings with his top advisors on hot-button topics including the economy and immigration.

“During the first year of the Trump era,” reports The Daily Beast, “the president has patched in Dobbs via speakerphone to multiple meetings in the Oval Office so that he could offer his two cents, according to three sources familiar with these conversations.”

“Trump will ask Dobbs for his opinion before and after his senior aides or Cabinet members have spoken,” continues the Daily Beast, adding, “occasionally, he will cut off an official so that the Fox Business host can jump in.”

Trump routinely asks aides and officials if they have seen specific segments on Dobbs’ show. Trump regularly calls “Lou” to discuss things and solicit his opinions, which are often remarkably similar to his own agenda.

“What sets Dobbs apart,” writes The Daily Beast, “is the degree which the president views him as a policial and populism godfather, the #MAGA Socrates to Trump’s Plato.”

He has evolved since leaving CNN for Fox, writes the Daily Beast, into “a full-on conservative nationalist-populist and culture warrior.”

Dobbs has long been anti-immigrant, against what he sees as “political correctness,” and intolerant of what he views as multi-culturalism “excesses”.

Dobbs joined Trump in promoting the birther theory about President Obama, going so far as to earn a friendship with former White House strategist and noted white supremacist Steve Bannon.

At the end of last year during the run-up to the passage of Trump’s massive tax cuts for the rich, the president frequently chatted with Dobbs on the phone, discussing his progress.

Dobbs in return is a huge Trump fan, celebrating him frequently and promoting his policies on his show. His program is top-rated on the Fox Business Network.

It is clear from recent Trump appointments like Larry Kudlow as an economic advisor or John Bolton as National Security Advisor that the president isn’t looking for facts, fresh thinking or outside opinions; instead, he wants an echo chamber of people who agree with him no matter how wild or extreme his thinking.

Trump seems more willing to believe any Fox personality over his own administration officials or the intelligence community – so Dobbs fits seamlessly into the television-obsessed president’s inner circle perfectly.

In Dobbs, Trump has found a soul mate – an angry, aging white male who thinks liberals are ruining the world and “diversity” is a dirty word. For those who hope that Trump will take more moderate positions or open up his mind to all people, the ascension of Dobbs further highlights that Trump is moving deeper into his Fox News hole, further distancing himself from the public opinion with each passing day.
