A Republican congressman just destroyed Trump in epic profanity-laced tirade

- 14.00

If they hadn’t screwed up the country so badly with their regressive tax cuts for the rich, the despoiling of the environment, and a litany of other sins, one could almost feel sorry for Republicans in Congress these days.

They are tied at the hip with a corrupt president who’s legal woes are rapidly catching up with him; a large number of their colleagues are deciding that it isn’t even worth it anymore and announcing that they won’t run for office in the 2016 midterms; and, despite their control of both houses of Congress and the presidency, their only major victory has been a tax cut for their ultra-wealthy puppet masters that has resulted in a mortgaging of their children’s future that could destroy the nation’s economy as the Republicans typically do.

Do they deserve sympathy for their self-inflicted plight? Of course not!

It is, however, somehow slightly gratifying to engage in a huge helping of schadenfreude in hearing Trump’s hapless footsoldiers come to the realization of just how screwed they really are.

Fox News contributor and editor of The Resurgent Erick Erickson caught up with a Republican congressman who has been a staunch public defender of the president to date and who unloaded his frustrations with Trump to the conservative pundit. Erickson met the congressman in a supermarket because the politician understandably wanted to remain anonymous and didn’t want to be seen on Capitol Hill speaking with him.

The congressman, whom Erickson has known for many years, told him that he just needed to vent, and, having read Erickson’s commentary, knew he’d find a sympathetic ear. His venting is so quotable that simply presenting choice excerpts without comment is as effective a means to demonstrate the hypocrisy and growing panic in the GOP as one could imagine.

A warning to the reader, the congressman does not restrict his language in his tirade, so expect some choice profanities.

“He may be an idiot, but he’s still the President and leader of my party and he is capable of doing some things right,” the representative said while ultimately conceding that anything good coming from the administration is mostly other people’s doing.

“But dammit he’s taking us all down with him. We are well and truly f**ked in November. Kevin [McCarthy] is already circling like a green fly circling sh*t trying to take Paul’s [Ryan] job because nobody thinks he’s sticking around for Nancy [Pelosi]. She’s going to f**k up the cafeteria again too. [Lord’s name in vain], at least I’ll probably lose too and won’t have to put up with that sh*t.”

Obviously, this conversation took place before Paul Ryan’s announcement today that he would not seek reelection, but it was spot on in its prophecy.

It’s like Forrest Gump won the presidency, but an evil, really f*cking stupid Forrest Gump. He can’t help himself. He’s just a f**king idiot who thinks he’s winning when people are b*tching about him. He really does see the world as ratings and attention.”

Whoa, this is from someone who goes on cable news and defends the president!

“Judiciary is stacked with a bunch of people who can win re-election so long as they don’t piss off Trump voters in the primary. But if we get to summer and most of the primaries are over, they just might pull the trigger if the President fires Mueller. The sh*t will hit the fan if that happens and I’d vote to impeach him myself. Most of us would, I think. Hell, all the Democrats would and you only need a majority in the House.”

“If we’re going to lose because of him, we might as well impeach the motherf**ker. Take him out with us and let Mike [Pence] take over. At least then we could sleep well at night,” he said, adding that the situations with Russia and China terrify him.

“You know having Mike as President would really piss off all the right people, too. They think they hate Trump. Mike is competent,” he said of an equally terrifying concept.

Still, the stench of hypocrisy is at his most blatant in his final admission.

“I say a lot of shit on TV defending him, even over this. But honestly, I wish the motherf*cker would just go away. We’re going to lose the House, lose the Senate, and lose a bunch of states because of him. All his supporters will blame us for what we have or have not done, but he hasn’t led. He wakes up in the morning, sh*ts all over Twitter, sh*ts all over us, sh*ts all over his staff, then hits golf balls. F*ck him. Of course, I can’t say that in public or I’d get run out of town.”

While the congressman’s assessment of the political landscape will surely enhearten progressives and Democrats, the cowardice of Republican congressmen who are smart enough to see the damage this president is doing to our nation, but too fearful to publicly call for his impeachment is pitiful.

Our only solace can be that our current situation has the members of the GOP as defensive, miserable, and brow-beaten as they can be, at least until the midterms, when it will be a whole lot worse.
