Obama’s ethics chief just made a prison prediction that Trump can’t afford to ignore

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian Federation has the administration spooked if the string of recent departures is any sign.

Just today, it was announced that Trump’s chief economic advisor Gary Cohn would be resigning. Before that, longtime Trump aide and White House Communications Director Hope Hicks also announced her looming departure. The smart money seems to be that there are more indictments coming down the pipeline soon.

President Obama’s top ethics official Norm Eisen agrees, and tweeted that by the time Trump leaves the White House “prisons will be full of [Trump’s] associates.” The bold prediction bodes poorly for the opportunists still clinging on to the kleptocratic president’s coattails.

Add your name to millions demanding Congress take action on the President’s crimes. IMPEACH TRUMP & PENCE!

He made the comments in response to a news story that an aide to Scott Pruitt, the head of the EPA, had been given the go-ahead to work for private profit on the side, and that he doesn’t have to report the identities of his clients. It’s a level of corrupt practice that would have been unthinkable, but which has quickly become par for the course under Donald Trump.

Eisen called the news “insane” and said during the Obama years people had been forced to quit non-profit organizations, even if they weren’t making money from the positions if there was the appearance of a conflict of interest.
