Right on cue, National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch pushed back against a proposal to raise the age to purchase a firearm from 18 to 21, which has been gaining national momentum.
Loesch claimed that it wouldn’t punish “a gangbanger in Chicago” but would punish “the 19-year-old hunter.”
Apparently, hunting didn’t exist before the advent of an AR-15 assault rifle.
Actor Ron Perlman heard her unfounded nonsense and publicly called her out for it.

The fact is that during the last assault weapons ban from 1994 to 2004, there were 12 incidents of mass shootings. In the decade after a Republican Congress let it expire, there were 34 incidents, a 183 percent increase. But more importantly, Ms. Loesch, hunters somehow brilliantly managed to find a way to continue hunting without military-grade semiautomatic rifles.
It should come as no surprise that the NRA’s stance on mass shootings is to introduce “more guns” given the fact that the organization’s sole purpose is promoting the sale of firearms.
After a countless number of school shootings, the NRA’s power is being called into question and its stranglehold on the Republican Party is finally being put to the test. If the GOP isn’t willing to defend its own constituents over the gun lobby, they may be in for a rude awakening at the polls in November.
