Alec Baldwin was back as Trump on this week’s SNL, this time to give us his positions – all of them – on gun control.
The iconic actor, who got into a twitter fight with the President this week over the impersonation, recreated the bipartisan meeting on gun control held after 17 people were killed in a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida on Valentine’s Day.
The cold open sketch hits all the highlights. Trump is at times both for and against gun control. He references the closed-door meeting with NRA lobbyists after which it seemed Trump had walked back all the promises he made on gun control just hours prior.
Mike Pence, Diane Feinstein, and Jeff Sessions impressions all make an appearance as well.
It’s not hard to see why the President took such offense to the actor’s impersonation of him. It is spot on and really needs no exaggeration to be not only funny, but devastatingly accurate. The President knows by now that we’re laughing at him, not with him.
