The “mighty” have fallen. The fallout from “Fire and Fury” has finally reached critical mass.
Steve Bannon has announced his departure from Breitbart News.
Bannon, formerly Trump’s closest confidante and senior adviser on White Nationalism and Nazi Revivalism, has been treading water for the last week ever since it came out that he was responsible for some of the most salacious revelations in Michael Wolff’s book.
Not only has Bannon been banished from the White House, erased from the annals of history according to Trump, and removed from his throne at Breitbart, but he’s also lost his financial backing from Rebekah Mercer. That leaves Bannon with exactly nothing to walk away with.
He issued a statement to distract from the walk of shame with his tail between his legs.
Bannon is “proud of what the Breitbart team has accomplished in so short a period of time in building out a world-class news platform.”
This is a real clean slate for Sloppy Steve, but it begs the question what is this guy gonna do next? He’s had more lives than a dead cat, and someone who’s reinvented himself from slimy investment banker to failed movie producer isn’t going to just buy a place in Boca and take up glassblowing.
Rest assured he’s done in Trump world.
