Republican Senator just got caught on hot mic ogling teen aide on Senate floor [WATCH]

While the Senate was voting today to pass a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government for several more weeks while a permanent solution to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals issue is revolved, Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) was caught on a hot mic giving an off-color comment about the high school-aged pages that work among them.

“I thought you were going to say this was one of the most beautiful girls,” Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) said. “What about these others?”

The pages, of course, are high school aged per Senate rules.

[Pages] must be high school juniors, at least sixteen years old, and attend school. Senate page duties consist primarily of delivery of correspondence and legislative material within the Congressional complex. Other duties include preparing the chamber for Senate sessions, and carrying bills and amendments to the desk. Pages attend classes in the early morning at the United States Senate Page School, a program fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

While taken alone, the Republican Senator’s comments are certainly disgusting, but they are especially egregious given the current climate surrounding sexual misconduct by powerful male figures unto their female subordinates.

It seems that the party of “family values” is holding their “own” principles at arm’s length yet again. What a surprise.
