Bombshell book author just turned Trump’s attacks on his credibility against him

On this morning’s Today Show, Savannah Guthrie interviewed author Michael Wolff and told him that the President is questioning his credibility for the scandalous White House details he reported in his book, Fire and Fury, out today.

Wolff responded, “My credibility is being questioned by a man who has less credibility than perhaps anyone who has ever walked on earth at this point.”

Wolff stood by his reporting, which he derives from hours of videotaped and transcribed interviews with former senior White House advisor, Steve Bannon, and every other member of the President’s inner circle, as well as a shockingly candid dinner conversation between Bannon and deceased FOX news founder, Roger Ailes, conducted at the author’s own New York townhouse, and weekly chats on a West Wing couch.

His claims have been verified by third parties and have not been denied by anyone other than Trump himself and his White House mouthpiece Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Trump himself granted Wolff free reign of the West Wing to write his book, not realizing the book the author had previously written about Trump idol Rupert Murdoch was a withering indictment of the FOX owner (who himself secretly calls Trump a “f***ing idiot”).

The President’s communications staff ordered the White House staff to cooperate fully with the book.

They were more than willing to sing like canaries about Mad King Trump and his manifestly unqualified family members, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

If the simian chaos Wolff describes in Fire and Fury weren’t true, if Trump had disciplined control of the workings of his administration, how would Wolff have obtained access to write the book in the first place?

Wolff himself has said that he cannot control that White House staff differed in their accounts or lied, following in the footsteps of their mendacious boss.

He says he is reporting what they said and is letting the reader deduce for themselves what the truth is, while following the threads of sources he trusts to piece together a version of events he believes to be true.

But he feels confident that he has not made anything up, only reported on the rank incompetence and disorder he witnessed first-hand in the White House and heard directly from its denizens.

In the Today interview, Guthrie asked him, “You stand by everything in the book? Nothing made up?”

“Absolutely everything in the book,” Wolff responded.  “I am certainly and absolutely, in every way, comfortable with everything I’ve reported in this book.”

One thing he definitely got right. . . Trump’s credibility is indeed the lowest of anyone to walk the earth.
